To Travel or Not

Last Thursday we drove to Atlanta, got our tickets at the Delta counter, went through security, and went to the gate counter to see if we could get our seats changed. At that point I was told I could not board the plane for Ecuador because my passport expired in a few weeks. We had to waite for hours to see if Cheryl could change her flight to a later day. She didn't want to go for a full week without me.

We worked at the house on Friday and drove over to Bryson City, North Carolina on Saturday. We hiked Saturday afternoon and yesterday and came home this morning just in time for Cheryl to leave for Ecuador. We stayed at the Fryemont Inn, built circa 1926. It was quaint and charming, but rustic. The best thing about the stay was the food. Dinner and breakfast were included in the price of the room. It was great. I had prime rib one night and trout the other. The quality of the food made the stay worthwhile.

Last evening we drove up to Maggie Valley [by the way Ghost Town appears to have reopened]and looped back on the Blueridge Parkway. It was glorious.

How disappointing to have your travel plans interrupted.. glad you guys appeared to have a relaxing weekend anyway. The next-to-last picture of Cheryl (chin in hand) is really beautiful.
